Our Areas of Practice

With over 25 years of combined experience, we know how best to protect your interests – both now and for the future.

Here is the list of areas on which we focus.  If you should need legal assistance outside of this scope, we will be glad to refer you to other attorneys with whom we regularly work and respect.

Family Law

Family Law Matters often encompass multiple areas of law.   The negotiation of settlement is, in many respects, a contract negotiation.  Support must be determined.  Businesses have to be evaluated and, in some cases, sold.  Both personal and real property must be assessed and sold or otherwise disposed of.  There are occasional brushes with the law by soon-to-be or former significant others, or children having difficulty coping.  The parties frequently have to change their wills and create trusts for the benefit of their children,  There are often post-judgement enforcement matters.

Katherine Richardson’s experience, first as an intern for two Family Court judges, then as a Law Clerk for one of the most highly regarded Family Court judges in the state, in private practice first with a highly reputable family law firm in northern New Jersey and now as a partner in Richardson & Richardson, translates into an attorney thoroughly versed in the ins and outs of family law, able to navigate often confusing rules governing family practice and craft creative and compassionate solutions, for the benefit of her clients and their children.

Coulter Richardson’s decade-plus experience as a civil litigator and contract negotiator, as well as a family law practitioner, translates into an attorney able to skillfully navigate through difficult negotiations and if need be, to try a case to conclusion.

Contract Law & General Civil Litigation

Coulter has extensive experience on contract law, business law and general civil litigation.  This can range from advising clients on what to expect from the contract they have signed, to how to change the contracts they are about to sign, to litigating the details of the contracts when the clients and their customers have parted ways.  His contract reviews are clear, concise and written so that the clients can read and understand the legal concepts.  They advise where there will be future problems or pitfalls, what clauses are considered boilerplates and acceptable in the industry and what they can and should change.  He regularly negotiates with counter-parties concerning the formation of long-term contracts.

On the litigation side of contract law, Coulter handles breach of contract, collection, breach of the duty of good faith and fair dealing cases; Uniform Commercial Code cases; fraud, consumer fraud and injunctive relied cases.
